Conservation Halton and the Halton Region Federation of Agriculture (HRFA) have announced a new partnership. The partnership aims to strengthen community connections and address shared priorities, including climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies.
“The agricultural community has always been an important part of the economic, social and environmental fabric of our watershed,” said Hassaan Basit, President and CEO of Conservation Halton. “Conservation Halton and the agricultural community are both stewards of the land, with goals to conserve local spaces for future generations. We are proud to be working together with the Halton Region Federation of Agriculture to strengthen our community relations and create opportunities for greater collaboration. This new partnership will support continued progress towards shared climate resilience and conservation goals in Halton.”
The partnership also serves as a forum for members of the Halton Region Federation of Agriculture and Conservation Halton staff to work together to identify and deal with matters of mutual interest. Additionally, the partnership aims to provide opportunities for joint training, knowledge sharing and education as well as joint advocacy.
“The Halton Region Federation of Agriculture represents the voices of local farmers,” said Allan Ehrlick, the Federation’s President. “We are pleased to have this new, shared forum with Conservation Halton, where we can engage in meaningful discussion about environmental issues and priorities that matter to our region’s 430 farming families and undertake joint actions to address them.”
