Proteger, conectar, inspirar
When you donate your time or money, you protect environmentally significant areas in our watershed, restore areas that have been ecologically damaged, help wildlife species that are at risk, provide opportunities for the community to connect with nature and create education programs to inspire the next generation. We know that nurturing an appreciation for nature and teaching about environmental issues is a powerful way to overcome the challenges we face today, like climate change, and prepare for the challenges of the future.
With your donations, and with the support of our partners, we recently accomplished the following:
- Renewed areas for learning and recreation at Mountsberg, including adding a new, accessible boardwalk and connecting dock, upgrading trails and gathering spaces, and enhancing the park’s natural playground.
- Improved accessibility at Kelso with renovated visitor amenities and the purchase of mobile-accessible mats and all-terrain wheelchairs for guest use.
- Restored more than 1,950 metres of creek-side habitat, planted over 12,800 native trees and shrubs, and generated 160+ community volunteer hours through “restoration workdays”.
- Engaged more than 3,600 elementary school students during the Halton Children’s Water Festival and 600+ high school volunteers.
- Enhanced the gardens at Crawford Lake to support community engagement and to help thousands of visitors learn about Indigenous food sovereignty, heritage seed saving, and the resilience of traditional Indigenous agricultural practices.

Each year, we host a gala fundraiser where community members and organizations come together to raise awareness and funds for specific Conservation Halton initiatives. Our most recent gala was held at Kelso Conservation Area on Junio 13, 2024. Thanks to the support of our sponsors, donors and guests, the Blue Gala raised over $280,000 for projects that will restore and enhance local creeks, streams and wetlands.

Each year more than 100,000 visitors come to Crawford Lake to experience the First Nations heritage at the Crawford Lake Village on our sites, and celebrate the region’s unique geological and cultural significance.
