Event Offerings

Community Greening Events

If you’re looking for an outdoor stewardship experience for your employees, our community greening events offer a range of options to suit the needs of your group. Popular activities include invasive plant removals, forest care and maintenance, such as mulching, weeding, and watering recently planted areas, and in-stream restoration. We also offer park, trail and streamside clean-up events to help keep local habitats and waterways litter-free.

Available from 四月 to 10月

Tree Planting Events

Our always popular tree planting events are a great way to do your part to restore healthy ecosystems and increase the local canopy. These events often involve planting a mix of native trees and shrubs, with our restoration experts selecting species based on the type of ecosystem being restored. During the planting, your employees will get to learn about the specific species we’ve chosen to plant and the habitats they help to restore, and why these ecosystems are crucial to climate action.

Nature Workshops

Have you ever built a habitat box for pollinators or created wildflower seed balls? Our Nature Workshops invite your team to take part in these and other activities while diving into an environmental learning topic of choice. Led by our environmental educators, we offer both in-field options and activities that can be held at your office or virtually. Topics to choose from: Native Plants and Pollinators; Low Impact Development; Climate Change; and Your Place in the Watershed.

“That was such an excellent event. We are so thankful for your help in orchestrating it and can’t wait for the next one! It’s been a pleasure working with the Conservation Halton team!”

— Ryan Weise, Liberty Power

How should my team prepare for the event? Do we need to bring anything with us?

Please make sure your team is aware of site conditions. Any activities taking place outdoors are held rain or shine (except in thunderstorms or high winds). Bug spray and sunscreen are a must, as is comfortable clothing and sturdy closed-toed shoes that participants don’t mind getting dirty. No opened-toe shoes are permitted on planting days.

We strongly recommend that each participant bring with them water in a reusable container to stay hydrated—and to help keep the event litter-less!

These reminders will be included in your detailed event package, which will be emailed to you ahead of your event date. This package will identify the confirmed meeting time and location along with parking options. It will also include activity details and general reminders (e.g., proper attire, hydration, sun safety, bug spray, etc.).

Are there washrooms available onsite?

Most of our event locations are in naturalized areas with limited access to washroom facilities. A portable washroom rental is an option with most bookings. Please contact our staff if you wish to add this to your booking.

Will the site have parking options?

All sites will have parking options, and some are transit friendly. You will receive a detailed event package in advance of your event. Parking information and site access details (including the group meeting spot) will be captured in this package. Feel free to contact our team in the meantime if you have any questions.

What happens if it rains?

Our events run rain or shine, except in thunderstorms or extreme winds. If Conservation Halton cancels the event due to severe weather, we will make every effort to reschedule within the current planting season. If this isn’t possible, events may be deferred to the following season.

If our company needs to cancel or reschedule, will we receive a refund?

If your company wishes to reschedule after a booking has been confirmed, a $150 change-of-date fee will be applied. If your company requests to cancel a confirmed event, a 25% cancellation fee will be applied up to 10 business days before the event.

Please note that due to the costs of coordination, staffing and materials, we are unable to offer refunds within nine (9) business days of the event. A final invoice will be issued upon event completion.

We booked for more employees than will be attending. Does this affect the event fee?

Event fees are based on the expected number of participants. We ask that you confirm how many employees will be participating in your event at least 2 weeks prior to the scheduled date of your employee engagement experience.

Will you be taking photos or videos during the event?

Yes. Our team will request that all attendees who are comfortable being in photos/video sign photo release forms prior to starting the activity. Photos will then be shared with your group after the event.

Can our company bring a professional photographer/videographer or request one through Conservation Halton?

If you would like to have professional video or photos, your organization is welcome to book this service directly. The presence of a photographer or videographer will not affect your group size.

Do our employees need to sign waivers and/or photo release forms?

Yes. We will provide you with a secure link to our Waiver and Photo Release Form. Each employee is asked to sign this form digitally in advance. On the day of the event, our team will have an iPad on hand to collect signatures from employees and guests whose signatures have not been recorded.

Some of our employees would like to bring their families. Are we permitted to bring guests?

Some of our events can accommodate families and additional guests; however, this is site- and event-dependent. If you are interested in bringing individuals from outside of your organization to your corporate engagement event, please share this with our team as soon as possible.

We would like to make a donation to support conservation efforts. Is there a link through which our employees can donate? Can we track this amount to match the final value with a corporate gift?

Yes, and yes! Thank you for your generosity. Donations help to fund our conservation efforts and environmental programs for youth. Please indicate this interest with our team and we will set up a dedicated donation page for your employees. This page will include a live gift tracker to assist with corporate gift matching.

Note: Donations will be processed online through Canada Helps. All donations above $20 will be eligible to receive a tax receipt.
