GREEN SPACE: NEWCOMER YOUTH CLIMATE FORUM

NOW OFFERING WORKSHOPS FROM OCTOBER 2023 – JUNE 2024!

Climate change is a challenge without a precedent. It can feel overwhelming, but youth can make a difference with their skills, knowledge, and experience! Conservation Halton launched the Green Space: Newcomer Youth Climate Forum in partnership with RBC Tech for Nature to help youth (ages 14-29) learn more about climate change, gain practical skills to help their community fight climate change, and make new friends.

The Green Space program runs from 10月 16, 2023 to 6月 8, 2024. Monthly workshops will be held in-person at Conservation Halton Parks. Free transportation is available at select pick-up locations in Burlington, Oakville and Milton.

This program gives youth the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and the knowledge and skills needed to take on leadership roles in local climate action initiatives. Youth will:

  • Learn about climate science, the current climate crisis, and its local and global impact
  • 学习如何使用技术来收集和解释环境数据
  • 参与基于自然的气候解决方案(例如,植树、清除入侵物种、收集本地种子)。
  • 通过户外学习了解安大略省本地的植物和动物
  • Learn about government policies, laws, and initiatives related to climate action, adaptation, and mitigation
  • 探索与气候科学和环境监测相关的职业道路
  • Carry out a climate-communications capstone project to lead local change!
