MILTON, ON – March 10, 2022 – Glen Eden celebrates the success of the First Tracks pilot program this winter season. Offered to new Canadian youth and their families, First Tracks provided skiing and snowboarding experiences at Glen Eden to introduce some well-loved Canadian winter activities.

“Glen Eden is proud to have offered the First Tracks program to newcomer Canadians, which helped to remove barriers to trying winter sports,” said Hassaan Basit, President & CEO, Conservation Halton. “We are grateful for the support of our partners, Scotiabank, Canadian Tire Jumpstart and Minto Communities, in getting this program off the ground and helping to ignite the love of skiing and snowboarding in new Canadians.”

With the focus of introducing newcomers to winter sports, First Tracks offered two program experiences for new Canadian families – a one day Discover program (ages 8+) and an 8-week program for youth (ages 6 to 18). Participants received ski or snowboarding lessons including lift tickets and equipment rentals.

“Over 300 new Canadian youths and their families were able to experience the joy of winter sports and connect with the outdoors through the program,” said Garner Beckett, Executive Director, Conservation Halton Foundation. “Skiing and snowboarding are activities that every Canadian should have the opportunity to experience.”

First Tracks registration was on a first-come, first-serve basis. Booking for this program has closed for the 2021-2022 winter season. This program was made possible through generous funding from our partners: Scotiabank, Canadian Tire Jumpstart and Minto Communities.
