MILTON, ON – May 19, 2022 – Conservation Halton is pleased to announce its newest outdoor community event, Blooms & Bubbles. The event, inspired by the beautiful blooms of spring and the importance of gardening with native plant species, runs for one weekend, Saturday, June 25 to Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Area 8, formerly known as Kelso Quarry Park (5437 Steeles Ave W, Milton, ON L9T 2Y1). This family-friendly experience is a fun way to celebrate the beginning of summer and features a marketplace with local vendors, live entertainment, food, and bubbly beverages.

Modelled after Conservation Halton’s highly successful fall festival, Hops & Harvest, the event will feature a wide range of activities and entertainment for all ages. The younger crowd will be amazed by Miss T the Bubble Queen, a well-recognized bubble performer who will be performing tricks to wow, surprise and enchant. There will be live music throughout the day from a variety of musical acts including Enviro Drum, a percussionist group that gets the whole crowd involved in their performance on recycled containers. Additional activities visitors can enjoy while at the event include archery, kids’ craft time and making a native seed planting kit for your home garden (additional fees apply).

The Blooms & Bubbles marketplace features various small businesses and vendors selling crafts, artisanal goods, plants and flowers. Food, sweets, and bubbly beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) from local restaurants, wineries, and breweries are also available for purchase. Conservation Halton will be hosting informational booths in the marketplace for anyone who wants to learn more about incorporating native plant species in their gardens, landscaping an environmentally friendly and sustainable yard or other restoration projects.

“We’ve been wanting to introduce an event to celebrate the tastes and colours of spring for a few years now,” said AJ Leeming, Senior Manager of Programs and Services. “However, due to the pandemic, it just wasn’t the right time. Now, with events like this being safer for the public, we couldn’t wait to get out and celebrate nature coming to life again. We’re ready to make this an annual event to celebrate the changing of seasons and excited to host this event at Area 8. It took over 20 years to restore this former quarry and we want everyone to enjoy and experience this one-of-a-kind park!”

Tickets can be purchased online through the event website chbloomsandbubbles.com. Blooms and Bubbles will take place from 11 am to 6 pm on Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26, 2022.
