Crawford Lake is a rare meromictic lake and an important site to many communities. For decades, studies of its paleolimnological record have contributed to our understanding of local, regional and global history. Each year, thousands of students and members of the public visit Crawford Lake Conservation Area to experience the park’s rich history and learn about the science and stories of this special lake through interpretive programming delivered by Conservation Halton educators.
Established by Francine McCarthy and Mike MacKinnon, the McCarthy Fund exists to to support education and engagement initiatives that contribute to the protection of Crawford Lake.
