BURLINGTON, ON – The Conservation Halton Foundation is pleased to announce that its fifth annual gala, Omnia, raised over $280,000 for projects and initiatives that increase access to nature.

The sold-out event was held at Kelso Conservation Area on June 1st. It featured a cocktail reception and seated dinner supported by our presenting sponsors Argo Development Corp and Mattamy Homes.

During the event, guests heard from keynote speaker Maayan Ziv, whose activism and achievements as the Founder and CEO of AccessNow have earned her numerous accolades. The event also featured live music and lawn games as well as a 50/50 raffle, silent auction, and retail hut where all proceeds from the sale of new parks-branded merchandise counted towards the gala’s fundraising target.

“Conservation Halton is committed to creating spaces and experiences that are inclusive and accessible for all, because access to nature is essential to our health and wellbeing,” said Hassaan Basit, President and CEO of Conservation Halton. “Omnia brought together Conservation Halton’s incredible community of supporters to advance these goals at Kelso Conservation Area, and we are grateful to our sponsors, donors, and guests for helping to make this fundraiser such a successful and memorable evening.”

With thirty-one sponsors and almost 300 guests, the event raised awareness and generated funds for projects and programming initiatives that improve accessibility in Conservation Halton’s parks. This year’s proceeds also contributed to the Conservation Halton Foundation’s recently announced capital campaign, Connected: Growing Our Greenprint.

Attendees included board members, mayors, local councillors, community and corporate partners, donors, and other supporters of Conservation Halton and the Conservation Halton Foundation.

“Our event was an opportunity to talk about – and tackle – barriers to accessing nature in our watershed,” said Garner Beckett, Executive Director of the Conservation Halton Foundation. “Nature isn’t always inherently accessible, but with the support of our sponsors, donors and partners, we can continue to alleviate barriers in our parks so that more of our community members can access and enjoy these important greenspaces.”

The Conservation Halton Foundation’s annual gala is the organization’s signature fundraiser. Each year, it introduces a unique theme to spotlight Conservation Halton’s parks and the organization’s priorities in conservation, outdoor recreation, and education.
