- Supervise participants on swimming beach, Kelso Cove Waterpark, and in other waterfront areas, enforcing rules and regulations with guests and staff
- Supervise participants during weekly open-water swimming events
- Serve as a first point of contact for guests and respond to incidents within the supervised waterfront areas

The Waterfront Lifeguard Assistant Lead is responsible for maintaining control of the activities within the beach area and the Kelso Cove Waterpark area to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for guests and staff. The primary responsibilities of this position include:

- Identify and address risks in and around the beach and waterpark areas to keep guests safe

- Contribute to the successful operation of CH summer camp programs, creating fun and adventure for campers in a safe and supportive environment.

Your Qualifications

Reporting to the Program Manager, Flood Hazard Mapping, the Water Resources Engineer is responsible for water resources engineering input related to the development of flood hazard mapping to support administration of regulations under Section 28 of the Conservation Authorities Act. This includes both in-house development of hydrologic and hydraulic models, mapping, and reporting and technical review of similar work completed by consultants. The Water Resources Engineer also supports the Program Manager with development of the Flood Hazard Mapping Program, to efficiently and effectively deliver flood hazard mapping studies, while working directly with internal teams, consultants, municipal staff and the public. The Water Resources Engineer will:
- Develop watershed-scale hydrologic and hydraulic models and sign and seal associated flood hazard mapping
- Provide technical peer review of consultant led flood hazard mapping studies
- Engage in and facilitate collaborative solutions-oriented discussions with key project stakeholders
- Communicate study findings through development of supportive materials (technical reports, memos, presentations, and support development of engagement materials, etc.)
- Conduct field investigation of critical hydrologic and hydraulic elements
- Assist with the development of procedures, guidelines, strategies, and system supports, to guide implementation and effective delivery of Conservation Halton’s Flood Hazard Mapping Program
- Manage flood hazard mapping studies
Vos qualifications
- Designated as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), licensed in the Province of Ontario
- University degree in Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Minimum of 5 years experience working in Water Resources Engineering
- Extensive knowledge and experience developing, calibrating, and validating watershed-scale hydrologic and hydraulic models (including demonstrated proficiency with HEC-RAS)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, supporting an ability to effectively communicate technical information to a variety of audiences
- Detailed knowledge of principles, policies, guidelines, and procedures (including Provincial Natural Hazards Technical Guidelines and other industry documents), related to modelling, mapping, and hazard management
- Experience with project coordination
- Knowledge of the Conservation Authorities Act and Planning Act
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making capabilities

Your Opportunity
The Conservation Halton Trail Association (CHTA) is a volunteer group that plays a vital role in maintaining over 100 km of trails across eight Conservation Halton parks.
Working alongside the Recreation Operations team, they build, repair, and enhance trails and our disc golf course to keep them in top condition. This diverse community—mountain bikers, hikers, trail runners, rock climbers, and disc golfers—is united by their love for the outdoors and dedication to preserving these natural spaces.
Conservation Halton is seeking passionate individuals that are experienced, dedicated, and want to play a role in positioning CH and our trails as one of (if not THE) premier trail destination within Ontario.
If selected, participants will be able to sign up for various opportunities shared via an Online Volunteer Portal by Conservation Halton staff. Opportunities will run on various schedules including weekends and evenings.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Participation in trail workdays and build opportunities. Examples include: the construction of the connecting trails from Area 8 to Kelso, construction of new Technical Trail Features on Kelso Mountain Bike trails, construction of detailed rock armouring and other infrastructure projects.
- Assistance with the planning and visioning of current and potential future trails, with a keen focus on CH’s ‘core’ user groups: Hikers, Mountain Bikers, Climbers, Disc Golfers
- Ongoing assistance in the maintenance and management of current CH trails and Disc Golf course, including assisting with corridor management, reclamation, vegetation management and trail closures.
- Work in accordance with the Conservation Halton’s Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals
Your Qualifications
- A strong interest in trail recreation, trail related planning and maintenance.
- Active user of at least one of CH’s “core” user groups: Hiking, Biking, Climbing and Disc Golf will be considered a strong asset
- Experience using typical trail building hand tools: Pulaskis, McLeods, Shovels, Rakes, pruners etc.
- Previous trail building, design and planning experience will be considered a strong asset

- Responsible for landscape and grounds maintenance at various Conservation Halton properties

Vos qualifications

Working as a part of the Science and Monitoring Team, the Monitoring Assistant will be involved in conducting various biological inventories in support of the watershed monitoring program throughout the Conservation Halton watershed. Reporting to the Coordinator, Water & Biodiversity Monitoring, and working closely with the Monitoring Technicians (in 2–4-person field crews), the Monitoring Assistant will:

- Assist with data entry and management for watershed monitoring, including QA/QC of data.

Vos qualifications
- Working towards or completed a university degree or college diploma in ecosystem restoration, biology, ecology, geography or fish and wildlife management.
- Introductory knowledge and experience with various field inventory protocols, such as ELC, OBBN, OBBA, etc.
- Basic identification skills with native flora and fauna (i.e., fish, bird, amphibian, and other species by sight and sound)
- Introductory experience in field surveys for wildlife (e.g. breeding bird surveys, fish assessments etc.)
- Experience with data entry using MS Access and with spreadsheets in MS Excel considered an asset
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment over uneven terrain (navigating through various habitats) and in variable weather conditions.

- Previous leadership experience is an asset

The primary responsibilities of this role include:
Fall/Winter – Lift Operations
- Assist with hiring, training, and scheduling, and Dayforce approvals for all seasonal lift attendants
- Provide day to day leadership for seasonal staff, including ongoing staff development, evaluation, and supervision with a focus on staff and guest safety
- Ensure approved operating procedures are followed in accordance with the Lift Operations manual and passenger ropeways regulationsto maintain safe and orderly loading and unloading of the chair & surface lifts; loading and unloading ramps, signage, and corals are maintained to approved standards
- Support with daily outdoor operations tasks (lift logs, staff absences, RFID Systems, snow maintenance and ongoing building maintenance/inspections)
- Complete daily lift/shift logs, training logs, incident, and safety reports promptly and accurately
- Review logs/reports completed by Lift Leads
- Assist Lift Maintenance team with lift closures and evacuations (Bypass and Rope)
- Support compliance with, working knowledge of TSSA standards, Z98-19 code, Ontario Regulations, CH policies and procedures
- Assist guests in a friendly, courteous, and helpful manner, maintaining a high level of customer service
Spring/Summer – Turf Maintenance
- Complete landscape maintenance across all CH parks and associated sites
- Assist in the design, preparation, planting, and maintenance of gardens across all Conservation Halton parks
- Lead and work alongside a team of seasonal staff in the gardens, providing guidance, training, and ensuring the quality and efficiency of their work
- Assist with workplans, staff rotational schedules, and managing tools and inventory
- Assist in leading landscaping tasks such as weeding, mulching, seeding, planting, watering
- Safe operation of equipment and machinery, such as wide area mowers, Ventracs, tractors, trailers, which includes completing required safety checks to minimize risk, injury, and property damage.
- Safe operation of light equipment including leaf blowers, string trimmers, push mowers, and power-tools
- As required, operate machinery to assist in the implementation of other property maintenance programs, including site cleanup (litter control, waste handling, etc.) and vehicle/equipment maintenance (cleaning, washing, etc.)
- Ensure proper trailer loading procedures are followed
- Report any incidents, areas of concern or hazards to leadership staff
- Support with setup of seasonal operations including moving supplies, equipment and as directed
- Assist with setup, takedown and operation of seasonal/special events and functions as required
- Perform duties and ensure that team members and volunteers work in accordance with Conservation Halton’s policies, safety procedures, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and applicable Regulations

Vos qualifications
- Able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and on varied terrain
- Previous hands-on experience operating small/heavy landscape equipment along with knowledge of and demonstrated experience operating CVOR vehicles and Trailers is required
- Previous experience using basic hand tools (shovels, rakes, line trimmers etc.) is an asset
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate across departments, provide direction and be authoritative when required
- Previous experience in a leadership role, supervising front line staff
- Ability to work in and adapt to the daily challenges associated with a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to make decisions and action accordingly, handle difficult situations while remaining calm under pressure
- Minimum secondary school education required
- Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS, and other workplace H&S regulations
- Previous experience with and working knowledge of lift operation and TSSA standards, Z98-19 code, safety policies and emergency procedures would be an asset.
- Ability to do basic mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance, working at heights training, or lockout/tagout training are an asset
- Able to lift up to 40 pounds, stand, and walk for long periods of time, bend, stretch, and work from ladders or step stools.
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams). Ability to learn/use a variety of programs/applications including: Dayforce, Sling Scheduling
