BURLINGTON, ON – Conservation Halton is celebrating Pride month with the return of Pride in Nature at its parks. First launched in 2021, Pride in Nature celebrates 2SLGBTQ+ communities and is centred on building support for a more inclusive and equitable society. This year’s programming roster has been expanded and offers even more programs and activities for all ages throughout the month of June.

“Conservation Halton believes that nature is for everyone, and we are committed to creating welcoming and inclusive spaces where park visitors can enjoy and connect with nature,” said Hassaan Basit, President and CEO of Conservation Halton. “We’re proud to be running Pride in Nature events across our parks throughout June to foster connection, celebrate diversity, and support for 2SLGBTG+ communities and also inspire others to take action towards a more equitable and inclusive society.”

Pride in Nature will feature the following outdoor experiences for all:

  • Slay Your Way Guided Nature Hike at Hilton Falls – Join Conservation Halton’s outdoor educators on Samedi, June 3 at 10:00 a.m. for a family-friendly guided hike out to the waterfall at Hilton Falls. Learn about the park and its history as well as all the plants and animals that call it home.
  • I’m Coming Out… to a BBQ and Bonfire at Area 8 – Come out with your friends, families, and allies on Vendredi, June 9 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. to enjoy an evening BBQ and music, hike the lakeside trail, play fun over-sized lawn games, and connect by bonfires on the beach.
  • Whatever Floats Your Boat at Kelso – Join us on the open waters of Kelso Lake on Samedi, June 17 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Home to many varieties of fish, Kelso Lake offers great spots to sink your bait. Canoes, kayaks, paddleboats, and stand-up paddleboards are available.
  • Climb As You Are at Kelso – On Mercredi, June 21 at 6 p.m., transcend your way to new heights with an evening on the Challenge Course with our Escarpment Walk Aerial Ropes Course and Vultures View Climbing Tower.

With programming and events being family-friendly, Conservation Halton will once again be partnering with ROCK to support education, visibility, awareness. “Queer at ROCK is thrilled to be a partner of Pride in Nature again this year! We love the variety of offerings available for youth, families, and all of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community,” said Kelly Giuliani, Manager of Community and Youth Development, Queer at ROCK.
