Your Opportunity 

Waterfront Lifeguards ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for guests and staff through supervision, accident prevention, first aid and rescue skills, public education, and customer service. 

The primary responsibilities of this position include: 

  • Supervise participants on swimming beach and in waterfront areas, enforcing rules and regulations with guests and staff 
  • Supervise participants during weekly open-water swimming events 
  • Serve as a first point of contact for guests and respond to incidents within the beachfront area 
  • Execute emergency procedures and use safety/rescue equipment as required 
  • Provide customer service and engage with guests to provide education about potential hazards and safe practices in waterfront areas

Reporting the Coordinator, Recreation Programs and with heavy collaboration with Milton Heights Racing Club (MHRC) Race Director/Board, the Head Coach will be responsible for the creation of appropriate seasonal sports programs and training plans, development of MHRC racing/event schedule, delivery and supervision of competitive ski racing programs offered in partnership between the Glen Eden Snow School and MHRC.

  • Function as a senior member of the GE Snow School, managing all Coaching / Racing efforts for MHRC, as well as working with other snow school programs where necessary
  • Participate in the design and development of the programs that MHRC and Snow School offer
  • Responsible and accountable for developing and managing staffing budgets in relation to all racing programs.
  • Lead pre-season dryland activities and on-hill supervision, training, mentoring and coaching for competitive programs.
  • Coordinate the recruiting, and training process of coaching staff in accordance with Conservation Halton employee policies and Alpine Canada/Alpine Ontario coach training requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate risk management policies for racing programs are adhered to, in collaboration with appropriate staff.
  • Identify racing, training and safety equipment required to ensure coaching staff are given the tools necessary to perform their jobs.
  • Represent and advocate on behalf of MHRC at AOA/Southern Ontario Division (SOD) leadership summits, coach meetings and seasonal planning sessions to establish the competitive racing and event schedule for all age cohorts, update the MHRC Board and GE Recreation Program staff on competitive program information, schedules, and related matters affecting MHRC programs and operation.
  • Ensure high quality of coaching through regular training, feedback, and performance reviews for all coaches, seeking input from MHRC Race Director.
  • Act as an ambassador of GE and MHRC at AOA races and events; promote AOA and interclub training, social and racing activities.
  • Support home races by coordinating, setting up and acting as Chief of Race as well as other related race duties.

  • Minimum of 3 years of competitive coaching experience within a club environment, ideally within Alpine Ontario.
  • Working knowledge of Alpine Ontario, Alpine Canada and FIS organizations and requirements.
  • Designation in ski coaching (i.e., Alpine Canada, Canadian Ski Coaches Federation, National Coaching Certification Program); Minimum Level II Official with AOA (or willing to obtain).

  • Understanding of International and Provincial Competitive Rules governing alpine ski racing, Safe Sport requirements for sports programs that ensure safe, supportive and inclusive training and competitive environments

The Chief Administrative Officer/Chief Executive Officer will have full accountability and responsibility for all operations, leadership, stakeholder management, fiscal effectiveness, risk mitigation and enterprise-wide visioning and planning for Conservation Halton. Reporting to the Conservation Halton Board, the CAO/CEO will lead full-scale strategic planning including establishing key performance metrics with a process improvement and innovation lens.  This role will be responsible for all key Conservation Authority obligations including managing critical flood water infrastructure, approving development permits under the Conservation Authorities Act, carrying out environmental restoration and forest management, delivering educational and recreational programming to 1.5+ million visitors to 8 parks.  This role also leads all business transformation and innovation initiatives through strategic leadership with a focus on delivering results and inspiring an engaged workforce.

The CAO/CEO will lead external stakeholder management for key relationships at multiple levels of government (Municipal, Provincial, Federal) as well as major land developers, donors, and corporate sponsors.   Providing leadership, coaching, and mentoring to the executive and senior leadership teams, this role is accountable for enabling CH’s leaders to act while inspiring a shared vision with an open, respectful, and cohesive approach.

This position will have ultimate accountability for the regulatory program which includes the review and approval of permit applications, compliance and enforcement, and development of regulatory policies and procedures and public consultations.  This also includes the planning program, provincially delegated responsibilities for natural hazard planning and policy reviews, and the flood hazard mapping program, including development of regulatory mapping and public consultations.

The CAO/CEO will also have ultimate accountability for the effective operations, programming, financial success, and risk mitigation for all CH parks as well as supporting other Conservation Halton owned land holdings.  This includes accountability for large groups of staff teams, high number of seasonal contract staff during the ski and snowboard season and ensuring health and safety for customers, visitors, and staff.

Your Opportunity 

The primary responsibilities of this position include: 

  • Safe operation of equipment and machinery, such as wide area mowers, Ventracs, tractors, which includes completing required safety checks to minimize risk, injury, and property damage.

Your Qualifications 

  • Previous experience operating lawn and turf maintenance equipment (wide area mowers, ventracs, etc.) is an asset, however training will be provided

  • Previous experience operating a truck with trailer hooked up is an asset

Reporting to the Manager, Science & Monitoring, the Coordinator, Water & Biodiversity Monitoring is responsible for coordinating, assessing, and reporting on Conservation Halton’s water and biodiversity monitoring in support of the watershed monitoring program.  This includes leading the Watershed Monitoring Program, informing the planning and management of CH lands, and supporting the Watershed-based Resource Management Strategy (Watershed Strategy) and watershed planning program.

We are looking for a collaborative, committed candidate to take initiative and advance the watershed monitoring program.  This position will work with the Manager, Science & Monitoring, to renew the program, identify program gaps and appropriately address them.

  • Project Management Oversight and Execution for collection, quality control, and integration of various data sets and inventory work as outlined in the watershed monitoring plan or assigned by the Manager.
  • Data collection and inventory work includes water quality monitoring through the Provincial Stream Monitoring program, as well as CH’s terrestrial and aquatic inventory and monitoring activities.
  • Plan field schedules and staffing to ensure field work is completed according to schedule/protocol, considering weather conditions, staff availability and other commitments.
  • Analyze and assess watershed monitoring data and inventories using innovative tools and technologies.
  • Create appropriate documentation to clearly and concisely, outline the steps taken for data analyses and assessments in easily understood ways.
  • In conjunction with the Conservation Halton Information Management/Technology team, identify dependencies and interrelationships (cause-effect); draw evidence-based conclusions about the resource status, trends, and drivers of change; and inform Conservation Halton’s watershed management programs and services.

Your Opportunity 

The Conservation Halton Trail Association (CHTA) is a volunteer group that will assist the Conservation Operations team with the ongoing management, maintenance, planning and construction of current and future trails across all of Conservation Halton’s parks and properties.  

Conservation Halton is seeking passionate individuals that are experienced, dedicated, and want to play a role in positioning CH and our trails as one of (if not THE) premier trail destination within Ontario.

If selected, participants will be able to sign up for various opportunities which are shared via an Online Volunteer Portal by Conservation Halton staff. Opportunities will run on various schedules including weekends and evenings.  

The primary responsibilities of this position include: 

  • Participation in trail workdays and build opportunities. Examples include: the construction of the connecting trails from Area 8 to Kelso, construction of new TTF Features on Kelso MTB trails, construction of detailed rock armouring and other infrastructure projects.  
  • Assistance with the planning and visioning of current and potential future trails, with a keen focus on CH’s ‘core’ user groups: Hikers, Mountain Bikers and Climbers 
  • Ongoing assistance in the maintenance and management of current CH trails, including assisting with corridor management, reclamation, vegetation management and trail closures.  
  • Work in accordance with the Conservation Halton’s Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals  

Your Qualifications 

  • A strong interest in trail recreation, trail related planning and work.  
  • Active user of at least one of CH’s “core” user groups: Hiking, Biking and Climbing will be considered a strong asset 
  • Experience using typical trail building hand tools: Pulaskis, McLeods, Shovels, Rakes etc.  
  • Previous trail building, design and planning experience will be considered a strong asset 
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment  
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions

Reporting to the Coordinator, Events & Productions the Events & Production Specialist will contribute to the success of Conservation Halton’s programming, event experiences, and 3rd party events through supporting promotion, sales, coordination, and delivery functions. The Events & Production Specialist will be a solution focused role with an eye for creativity and quality. In collaboration with both the Programs and Marketing & Communications teams, this role will have an opportunity to impact experiences within CH parks. The Events & Production Specialist will:

  • Lead booking and coordination of Film & Photography shoots. This includes site tours, scouting, contract development, recommendations on pricing, and oversight/delivery.
  • Oversee delivery of 3rd party events at CH Parks, from the sale and booking of CH services, through planning and logistics, to event fulfillment and evaluation. Events can include Triathlons, Markets, Dragon Boat Races, 5 Peaks Races, etc.
  • Accountable for 3rd party bookings for schools and businesses, including climbing schools, mountain biking and/or snow schools.
  • Plays a lead or supporting role with internal teams to support delivery & enhancements of experiences offered at CH Parks such as: Kelso Mountain Bike Race Series, Fall into Nature, Winterlit, Christmas Town, Maple Town, and future event experiences.
  • Provide support to events including the CH Foundation Gala, Staff celebrations, Fresh Air Events & Celebration, and other CH event initiatives yet to be developed.
  • Assess event or client needs and make recommendations for appropriate CH sites, programs, and services.
  • Work with internal resources & teams at Conservation Halton to ensure fulfillment of contracts with 3rd parties happens efficiently and in alignment with CH policy and procedure.
  • Maintain communication with clients throughout the planning process, recognizing opportunities to improve the experience or add services to events or bookings.
  • Determine resources required to deliver event or booking to expectations; negotiate service supply for vendors or suppliers required to contribute to fulfillment.
  • Maintain ongoing communication and coordination with both internal and external stakeholders in a collaborative and professional manner.
  • Provide onsite execution and day-of support. Serve as a liaison for clients and as a point of contact for vendors/suppliers, anticipating and addressing needs, and supporting as required with setup and takedown.

  • Solid problem-solving skills. Thinking creatively to find solutions, with sound judgment in decision making, and escalating appropriately when required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to network, build and maintain relationships with clients, internal and external stakeholders from a broad range of backgrounds.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment. Must be able to demonstrate leadership skills, holding yourself and others accountable to agreed upon deliverables.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on promotion and sales of products and services.
  • Previous experience with the administration required for promoting, selling, and booking events.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, and ability to conduct virtual meetings (Zoom, MS Teams, etc.)
  • Ability to work outdoors, across varied terrain, and in any weather conditions.
  • Ability to contribute to event delivery which may include standing and/or walking for long periods of time, lifting to 40 pounds, use of ladders or small hand tools, etc.
  • A valid Ontario License, minimum Class “G”, with a clean Driver’s Abstract is required
  • This role may require flexible hours to accommodate the event and/or client requirements including evenings, weekends & holidays.
