Waterpark Questions & Answers

Kelso Cove Waterpark is an exciting new attraction and we understand you may have some questions. To help you make the most of your visit, we've compiled answers to some of the most frequently asked questions.

Below are some important things to know before visiting the waterpark to ensure you have a great experience!

*Please Note: Children ages 5-8 must be accompanied by a chaperone ages 16 and older. Kids ages 9-14 may go on the waterpark by themselves, but a parent or guardian must remain on site in the waterpark area.

How do I book my timeslot?To guarantee your timeslot, please click here to book online.

What is the duration?Bookable timeslots are available daily: 
11:00 am - 1:00 pm 
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm 
3:00 pm - 5:00 pm 
5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
 
Guests can expect roughly 90 minutes of time for the experience, with some time at the start and end of the timeslot spent being prepped by lifeguards. The waterpark is cleared of all guests between each timeslot.

What are the hours of operation?Kelso Cove will open daily at 11:00 am. Timeslots will run every 2 hours with the final timeslot of the day starting at 5:00 pm. Guests wishing to maximize their time should arrive 15-30 minutes prior to the start of their timeslot. Late access may be possible pending availability of space on the feature.

Where is Kelso Cove located?The waterpark is located near the boat launch area which is your first right turn after entering the front gates.

Where do I park?Parking is available in the boat parking lot adjacent to the waterpark. Please allow ample time to park your vehicle as parking lots can fill quickly.

Where do I store my belongings?The Kelso Cove Waterpark  is located adjacent to a large parking lot so that guests may leave valuables, change of clothes, and other belongings in their vehicles. We recommend guests leave valuables, a change of clothes, and other belongings in their vehicles. The Park does not have lockers or a storage facility. Staff cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen items left unsupervised on shore.

Do I have to sign a waiver?Yes, waivers must be signed at the time of online registration. Guests ages 18 and under must have a parent or guardian sign their waiver who is over the age of 18. Guests will not be allowed access to Kelso Cove if the waiver is not signed.   

Can I cancel or change my booking?You can edit your reservation up to 4 hours prior to your booking. Please follow the link in your confirmation email confirmation to cancel or change your booking.

What is the minimum age?The minimum age to be on the waterpark is 5 years old. Children ages 5-8 years old must be accompanied on the waterpark by a chaperone that is 16 years of age or older. Guests ages 9-14 must have a parent or guardian on shore within 250 metres of the waterpark.

Are there height requirements?Guests must be at least 48" tall to access Kelso Cove. The maximum height is 6 ft 11”.

What if I miss my timeslot?You cannot receive a refund or rebook for not showing up at your scheduled time.

Where are the change rooms?Washroom facilities are available at Picnic Site A. Change rooms are available at the main beach.

Are food and drinks available to purchase on site?Snacks, cold drinks, and ice cream are available for purchase at the boat rental building.

Trailhead Sport & Retail Store and Sandy Shores at the beach also offer snack and drinks to keep you fueled throughout your park visit!

What do I wear?Swimwear must be worn while using the waterpark. Swimwear can include several types of garments, including swimsuits, swim trunks, rash guards, and more. For example, a two-piece swimsuit is considered swimwear, and a rash guard is also considered swimwear. Loose clothing is not permitted.

Can I wear water shoes?No, guests must be barefoot while on the waterpark.

Waterpark Safety FAQs

How many people are allowed on at one time?The maximum number of people allowed on the waterpark is 108.

Are lifeguards on duty?Yes, lifeguards are always on duty when the waterpark is open.

Are lifejackets required?Yes, lifejackets are required while on the waterpark. Lifejackets are provided onsite with your ticket purchase to use during your time on the waterpark.

Can I bring my own lifejacket?Yes, you can wear your own lifejacket as long as it is approved byTransport Canada, Canadian Coast Guard or 
Fisheries Oceans Canada.

What are the sizes of lifejackets?30-60 lbs – Child 
60-90 lbs – Youth 
Over 90 lbs – Adult

Is there a minimum and maximum weight restriction?  No, There are no weight restriction however you must be able to comfortably wear a Kelso Cove provided lifejacket.

Do I have to know how to swim?Everyone must have a basic level of swimming and be comfortable in the water.

Is a swim test required?All guests must pass a swim test while wearing a lifejacket prior to boarding the waterpark. Guests will be asked to swim the length of the dock which is 40 feet.

Is there a safety briefing?All guests must listen to a safety briefing and be familiar with the waterpark rules before accessing the feature.

What happens if the waterpark closes due to weather?In the event the waterpark is closed due to lightning or dangerous weather conditions we will notify all impacted by email. Rescheduling your ticket will be available at no charge in weather related park closures.  
 
We will try to update everyone impacted by weather issues as soon as possible, as we understand people drive from near and far to visit us. Unfortunately, being located outside we are subject to the elements, which can change quickly and be unpredictable.  

If dangerous weather conditions arise while guests are on the waterpark, our lifeguards will evacuate the waterpark as quickly and safely as possible. 
 
Although closing the waterpark is never enjoyable for our guests, safety is our number one concern.

How deep is the water?The water surrounding Kelso Cove is 14-16 ft deep. With Kelso Cove floating on a reservoir, water levels may fluctuate due to weather.
