Pride in Nature

We are pleased to announce that Pride in Nature is coming back!

Date: Saturday, June 11, 2022

Time: 11am-8pm
Location: Area 8 (Kelso Quarry)

Join us to celebrate the 2SLGBTQ+ community in Halton and surrounding area with a nature-based event including food, drinks, activities, art, music, other entertainment, as well as an opportunity to plant native species in the park. All are welcome, including members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, as well as friends, families and allies.
 
Ticket proceeds will be donated to the Positive Space Network in support of 2SLGBTQ+ Youth in Halton.

*Please note that this is a dog-friendly event. We kindly ask that they are kept on leash and that you pick up after your furry friends.

$5 per person (plus gate fee for non-members)

Event Experiences

Drag Queens

Local drag queens, Kenya Rami (they/them), Kamilla Flores Kameleon (she/her), Orlandra Bloom (she/her) and Van Goth (she/her), will be performing and engaging with guests.

Brooklyn Doran

Brooklyn Doran (she/her) is a queer singer-songwriter originally from the heart of Northwestern Ontario, who has been a staple of the Toronto folk scene for over ten years. 

Family Dance Party

Join professional hype guy, Tyler Boyle (he/him) for a hilarious and energizing dance break, no experience or coordination required! This dance party will be fun for any body of any ability!

Nature Talk

Join one of the 2SLGBTQ+ ecologists from Conservation Halton to learn about the interesting history of the quarry and the restoration that has taken place over the years. 

Restoration Talk

Join one of the restoration ecologists from Conservation Halton to find out about new shrub ecosystems, spawning shoals in the lake and other projects being conducted to bring nature back to the quarry. 

Add-On Experiences

These experiences can be added to your ticket when you purchase:

Pride Planting

Help plant shrubs and wildflowers and build other wildlife habitat in this newly restored area. Come ready to get your hands dirty! (Space is limited.) Fee: $3 per person. (Free for children four years old and under.)

Guided Hike

Join an educator from Conservation Halton to find out how decades of restoration work brought the former quarry back to life and learn more about the past, present and future of the area. (One-hour experience.) Fee: $2 per person. (Recommended for ages 8 and up.)

Yoga with Anthony (Adult)

Anthony from Nature of Mindfulness will be offering a yoga experience that combines breath work, movement (suitable for all levels), guided meditation and music that will inspire your practice. (Space is limited.) Fee: $10 per person ages 14 and up.

Youth Mindfulness with Anthony (Youth)

Anthony from Nature of Mindfulness will be offering a fun kids yoga practice for all levels of experience. (Space is limited.) Fee: $4 per person – ages 6 -12.

Fun Run and Walk

Join us for a Fun Run (5km) and Walk (2.3km) around the Kelso Quarry Lake to get active and improve your fitness. (Space is limited.) Fee: $2 per person for ages 12 and up. 

Boat Rental
Rent a canoe, single kayak or double kayak to explore the event from the crystal clear waters of the quarry lake. Fee: $22-30
