Plan Input and Review
Conservation Authorities in Ontario are identified as public commenting bodies under the Planning Act and as such, are circulated municipal policy documents and planning applications. Conservation Halton (CH) encourages municipal policies and development proposals that complement the CH Board-approved policies for administering Ontario Regulation 162/06 as well as CH’s broad goals and objectives for watershed resource management.
Policy documents and planning applications (and associated technical studies) circulated to CH for comment under the Planning Act include:
- Official Plans and Official Plan Amendments;
- Secondary/Area Plans and Infrastructure Master Plans;
- Zoning By-laws and Zoning By-law Amendments;
- Plans of Subdivision and Plans of Condominium;
- Consents (severances and lot-line adjustments);
- Site Plans and Site Alterations; and
- Minor Variances.
In addition to providing comments to municipalities, CH provides comments and technical review for projects approved under other legislation and plans such as the Niagara Escarpment Plan and related Development Permit Applications, Parkway West Belt Plan, Greenbelt Plan, Environmental Assessment Act, Drainage Act and Aggregate Resources Act.
CH also provides review on large-scale planning projects such as watershed studies, subwatershed studies, subwatershed impact studies, provincial plans and related technical studies.
