Cleo was found as a young bird in the Wasaga Beach area. She was showing signs of neurological damage of unknown origin. It is thought that she may have hit a window or she may have had West Nile virus. When admitted for rehabilitation, she had issues with perching and with balance. With treatment and time, she recovered. As she was taken into captivity as a young bird, however, how much hunting experience she had was unknown. She was previously trained and flown by a local falconer. While Cleo can fly, she is unable to catch wild quarry and is therefore non-releasable.
