Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program (MFTIP)

MFTIP Book CoverThe Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program (MFTIP) is a voluntary program available to landowners who own 4 hectares (9.88 acres) or more of forested land, and who agree to prepare and follow a Managed Forest Plan for their property. Under the MFTIP, participating landowners have the forested portion of their property reassessed and classified as Managed Forest and taxed at 25 percent of the municipal tax rate set for residential properties.

Conservation Halton Forestry Staff can assist landowners in compiling and submitting a forest management plan based on good forestry practices and landowner objectives. Conservation Halton offers competitive pricing and costs could be offset by funding opportunities through the Region of Halton. For more information about The Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program please visit the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry website or contact our Managed Forest Plan Approvers to discuss a plan for your property by emailing
