We invite grade 11 or 12 classes to participate for the day in this wonderful experiential leadership opportunity. Classes such as Leadership, Biology and/or Environmental Science make for an ideal match.

High school volunteers gain experience in teaching, public speaking, community outreach, and time management. They also receive a Certificate of Appreciation, a free Water Festival t-shirt and pizza lunch.

Working in pairs, the high school students present a hands-on, 15-minute water-related activity to one group of school children at a time, over the course of the day.

Busing to and from the Water Festival is provided free of charge for high school classes. The Festival also covers the cost of supply teachers who may be required to provide coverage for high school teacher(s) who attend the Festival with their students.

If you are a teacher interested in bringing one or more classes for a day, please contact the Festival Coordinator: waterfestival@hrca.on.ca.

The festival requires dozens of community volunteers to run successfully each year. These volunteers are often recruited from our partner organizations.

Volunteers roles include:

  • Activity Presenters
  • Area Lead Assistants
  • Area Leads
  • Busing Support/Safety Patrol/Lunch Assistants
  • Set-up & Tear down

All volunteers receive a festival t-shirt and have snacks and lunch provided each day they volunteer.

For a detailed list of volunteer roles & responsibilities, or to inquire about volunteering at the event please contact: waterfestival@hrca.on.ca
