Protect, Connect, Inspire

The Conservation Halton Foundation is a registered charitable organization that works to protect our natural areas, connect our community with nature and inspire individuals and groups to create meaningful change.

Want to help the Conservation Halton Foundation make a difference?

When you donate your time or money, you protect environmentally significant areas in our watershed, restore areas that have been ecologically damaged, help wildlife species that are at risk, provide opportunities for the community to connect with nature and create education programs to inspire the next generation. We know that nurturing an appreciation for nature and teaching about environmental issues is a powerful way to overcome the challenges we face today, like climate change, and prepare for the challenges of the future.

With your donations, and with the support of our partners, we recently accomplished the following:

  • Renewed areas for learning and recreation at Mountsberg, including adding a new, accessible boardwalk and connecting dock, upgrading trails and gathering spaces, and enhancing the park’s natural playground.
  • Improved accessibility at Kelso with renovated visitor amenities and the purchase of mobile-accessible mats and all-terrain wheelchairs for guest use.
  • Restored more than 1,950 metres of creek-side habitat, planted over 12,800 native trees and shrubs, and generated 160+ community volunteer hours through “restoration workdays”.
  • Engaged more than 3,600 elementary school students during the Halton Children’s Water Festival and 600+ high school volunteers.
  • Enhanced the gardens at Crawford Lake to support community engagement and to help thousands of visitors learn about Indigenous food sovereignty, heritage seed saving, and the resilience of traditional Indigenous agricultural practices.

Each year, we host a gala fundraiser where community members and organizations come together to raise awareness and funds for specific Conservation Halton initiatives. Our most recent gala was held at Kelso Conservation Area on June 13, 2024.  Thanks to the support of our sponsors, donors and guests, the Blue Gala raised over $280,000 for projects that will restore and enhance local creeks, streams and wetlands.

Visit our 2024 image gallery to view photos from the Blue Gala, or view photos from last year’s Omnia gala and our 2022 event, Re:Generations.

Making a donation to the Conservation Halton Foundation through your will is a meaningful way to protect the environment for future generations. Click here to learn more about how you can include a donation in your will.

Making a donation of publicly traded securities or stocks is one of the least expensive ways to give because your gift is exempt from capital gains tax, while you receive a receipt for income tax purposes for the full market value of the shares at the date of the transfer.

Please contact the Conservation Halton Foundation at 905-336-1158 (extension 2256) or foundation@hrca.on.ca to discuss your donation.

The Conservation Halton Foundation’s Memorial and Tribute Plaque Program lets you honour the memory of a loved one or mark a milestone event with a commemorative plaque at a Conservation Halton park. Donations are eligible for a full tax receipt. Funds raised through this program will support the continued protection and preservation of Conservation Halton’s parks and greenspaces so that they can be enjoyed by future generations.

Additional Information

The Conservation Halton Foundation is a partner organization to Conservation Halton and we raise charitable donations and sponsorships for environmental projects and programs in the Halton watershed, benefitting the residents of Mississauga, Oakville, Milton, Burlington, Puslinch, Halton Hills and surrounding areas.

We raise funds to purchase natural lands to create new conservation areas and enhance existing protected areas for future generations to enjoy. We work to improve natural areas by planting trees and shrubs to provide habitat and stabilize creekbanks. Our stewardship efforts aim to protect and restore environmentally significant natural areas and watercourses.

Environmental education is a critical component in the development of healthy, ecologically conscious citizens. With initiatives like the Halton Children’s Water Festival, and programs like From the Ground Up, we are working to educate and inspire our young people to preserve, protect, and enjoy our natural surroundings. Our Mountsberg Raptor Centre provides young people with a unique first-hand experience to raise awareness about the diversity of Ontario native birds of prey, and the challenges they face.

Each year more than 100,000 visitors come to Crawford Lake to experience the First Nations heritage at the Crawford Lake Village on our sites, and celebrate the region’s unique geological and cultural significance.

Our conservation areas like Crawford Lake, Mountsberg, Kelso and others, provide life-giving, nature-based recreation and renewal for hundreds of thousands of outdoor lovers every year.
