Voices of the Land: Indigenous Peoples Speaker Series

Join us as at Crawford Lake Conservation Area throughout the month of June as we honour and celebrate National Indigenous History Month.
Voices of the Land is a special speaker series that brings together Indigenous leaders, Knowledge Keepers, artists, and storytellers to share their voices, histories, and cultural teachings. We invite you to listen, learn, and reflect on the enduring strength, wisdom, and resilience of Indigenous peoples across Turtle Island.
Pricing: These events are free for Conservation Halton members; non-members are welcome to attend by booking online for Crawford Lake.

Fireside Chat: Indigenous Food Sovereignty and Land Stewardship

Ogichidaa Kweog “Warrior Women” Performance

Join us in celebrating Indigenous History Month with a powerful performance by Ogichidaa Kweog, meaning “Warrior Women” in Anishinaabemowin. This dynamic women’s drumming group honours traditional teachings through music. Gather with us at Crawford Lake as their voices echo across the land, fostering reflection, connection, and community.

Pinch Pots and Stories
Saturday, June 21, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
In honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day, we invite you to visit Crawford Lake. Explore the reconstructed longhouses and take part in a hands-on activity by crafting your own pinch pot to bring home. Guided village tours* with Conservation Halton’s Indigenous Education Coordinator, Leeanne Doxtator, will take place at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm.*Tours will begin in the Turtle Clan Longhouse.
