10:00a.m. – 11:30a.m. | Session 1 Unwanted Guests: Managing Invasive Species on the Farm Guest Speaker: Jeff Dickie, Forest Field Technician, Conservation Halton Learn practical strategies to manage common invasive plant species found on farms like Buckthorn, Dog-Strangling Vine, Oak Wilt, and Phragmites. We will discuss how to apply control efforts while on a budget, how to prevent spread, and how Conservation Halton can support invasive species management on your farm. |

1:00p.m. – 2:30p.m. | Session 2 Farm Forestry: Best Practices for Healthy Trees and Habitat Guest Speaker: Colleen Cathcart, Reforestation Technical Lead, Conservation Halton Explore how you can select the right tree species for your property and how to effectively design diverse woodlots, windbreaks, habitat corridors, and riparian zone on your farm. We will learn tips and tricks to spot the key signs of tree health that can enhance your farm practices. This session will feature personal experiences of farm forestry from our special guest, Barb Parker, a local farmer and active HRFA member. |
