Little Anglers’ Fishing Derby
September 28 @ 8:30 am – 12:30 pm
Kids 8 years old and under can come on out and fish off the docks, rocks, or rent a canoe or kayak and get on the water to track down the biggest fish.
Fish in the lake at Area 8:
As part of our restoration efforts, Conservation Halton has been stocking the Area 8 reservoir with native species for several years. To support restoration, all finish that are caught must be releases back into the Area 8 reservoir. Thanks to ongoing restoration efforts, little anglers can happily reel in:
- Bass
- Brook Trout
- Perch
- Sunfish
- Blue Gill
Schedule
- 8:30 am to 10:00 am – First Boat Rental Slot Available
- 10:30 am to 12:00pm – Second Boat Rental Slot Available
- 12:30 pm – Awards Hand Out
Medals will be awarded to all participants for having fun fishing and trophies will be awarded for:
- Biggest fish caught by an angler 4 or under
- Biggest fish caught by an angler between 5 and 6 years old
- Biggest fish caught by an angler between 7 and 8 years old
Adults and kids over 8 are welcome to participate for the fun of it, no derby entry fee required.

Please Note:
- Bait and tackle are not provided. Please come prepared with your fishing lures.
- We ask that you use barbless hooks
- Dogs are welcome to attend the derby, but we kindly ask that they remain leashed at all times. Please do not let them run or swim freely in the lake. Small dogs are allowed to be on boat rentals – but please be mindful of your hooks and cast-offs!
