Acorn Planting- Restoration Volunteer Event
201 Old Guelph Road
Hamilton, ON L9H 5X6
Join community members for a morning at the new Hopkins Tract in Dundas to assist in hands-on activities to sow native tree seeds. Volunteers will gain experience in the planting of native oak acorns and hickory nuts to help to restore this new natural area.
Planting nuts is easier than planting potted trees. Restoration ecology staff will be on site to describe the history of the property and the ecological restoration plan. Participants will be walking on uneven, moist soil in an open landscape.
What to bring: rubber boots (it will be muddy), warm clothing for being outdoors, thermos, warm gloves.
Pending weather, the event may be switched to the alternative date on Sunday December 10th, same time.
Registration is required. Parking instructions will be e-mailed to registered participants.
