Conservation Halton is updating its management plans for Clappison Woods and Waterdown Woods and wants to hear from area visitors and local residents. Please fill out our survey to share your feedback and perspectives on the future use and management of these publicly accessible conservation lands that form part of the Cootes to Escarpment EcoPark System.
The survey deadline has been extended to October 11, 2023.
Located within the Cootes to Escarpment EcoPark System, the Clappison Woods and Waterdown Woods properties make up approximately 508 acres (205 ha) of open space and nature sanctuary along the Niagara Escarpment.
In August 2016, under the guidance of the EcoPark System partners, a set of Management Plans for the EcoPark System Heritage Lands were completed. The Management Plans were developed to provide recommendations on conserving the natural and cultural features and improve sustainable recreation activities, education, and research opportunities on these public lands. During this process the public and each of the relevant agencies were consulted.
Conservation Halton is now beginning the process of implementing these plans for Clappison Woods and Waterdown Woods. The purpose of this study will be to update and combine the existing management plans for both properties into a single plan that will outline the values, constraints and management priorities in relation to each conservation area’s spaces and functions within in the Niagara Escarpment Parks and Open Space System (NEPOSS).
