Biodiversity & Resilience

CAMPAIGN PRIORITY

Safeguard Natural Ecosystems

Nature is our ally in climate action, and healthy ecosystems provide a host of local services—like improving water filtration and water quality, cleaning and cooling the air, creating wildlife habitat, and offering enriching spaces that support community health and wellbeing. We are leading conservation and restoration projects across the watershed to protect natural areas in Halton, for the benefit of people and wildlife.

Support local biodiversity and climate resilience.

When nature thrives and watersheds are healthy, our communities are resilient and able to flourish.

“So many of the ecosystems we restore and protect are natural carbon sinks. Forests, wetlands, and other natural areas are what we call “nature-based climate solutions”. The more we can do to invest in these vital spaces and support biodiversity in our watershed, the more resilient our communities will become.”
