There are so many incredible programs at Conservation Halton—but for many of our staff, Nature Stewards is a favourite. Funded in part through the Connected Campaign’s Education and Community pillars, Nature Stewards supports seniors living in long-term care homes and retirement residences in Halton that have limited access to greenspaces.
Nature Stewards offers opportunities for seniors to connect with nature and each other through guided park visits, eco-themed workshops and native plant installations, all promoting physical and social engagement. These experiences are shown to enhance individual and community well-being while reducing social isolation.

Sharing the Unique Impact of Nature Stewards
In June, we welcomed YourTV Halton to interview Brenna Bartley, Conservation Halton’s Manager of Education & Outreach at a Nature Stewards event and to film the residents as they planted their native gardens. Watch the full Nature Stewards news segment on YouTube.
Thank you to funders, Cogeco and the Ministry of Seniors and Accessibility for supporting this important and unique program.
