BURLINGTON, ON – Conservation Halton is pleased to announce its accreditation as a Rainbow Registered organization. Administered by Canada’s 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC), this recognition is a testament to Conservation Halton’s ongoing commitment to creating a safer, more welcoming, and inclusive space for the 2SLGBTQI+ community.

Rainbow Registered is a national accreditation program for businesses and organizations that complete a rigorous evaluation of policies, practices, and training to ensure they meet established standards for inclusivity. Over 400 businesses across Canada are Rainbow Registered, demonstrating to both customers and employees that equity and inclusion are values upheld in practice.

Conservation Halton’s accreditation was made possible through the leadership of its Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Advisory Group, a dedicated team of staff members whose work highlights the alignment of the organization’s practices with Rainbow Registered criteria.

Conservation Halton’s President & CEO, Chandra Sharma, says the recognition reflects the organization’s culture of inclusivity, both internally and externally.

“Diversity is a strength for our organization,” says Sharma. “Beyond our training, policies and procedures that foster safe environments for staff, our community partnerships and events help make Conservation Halton a welcoming and accepting space for all—because nature is for everyone.”

As part of ongoing efforts to foster belonging and celebrate diversity, Conservation Halton’s annual Pride in Nature events will launch on June 1, 2025. These events provide opportunities for connection, learning, and celebration of the 2SLGBTQI+ community in Conservation Halton’s parks.
