Your Opportunity
Reporting to the Program Manager, Flood Hazard Mapping, the Water Resources Engineer is responsible for development and review of flood hazard mapping that supports administration of regulations under Section 28 of the Conservation Authorities Act. This includes both in-house development of hydrologic and hydraulic models, mapping, and reporting and technical review of similar work completed by consultants. The Water Resources Engineer also supports the Program Manager with development of the Flood Hazard Mapping Program, to efficiently and effectively deliver flood hazard mapping studies, while working directly with internal teams, consultants, municipal staff and the public. The Water Resources Engineer will:
- Develop watershed-scale hydrologic and hydraulic models (1D and 2D) and sign and seal associated flood hazard mapping
- Provide technical peer review of consultant led flood hazard mapping studies
- Engage in and facilitate collaborative solutions-oriented discussions with key project stakeholders
- Communicate study findings through development of supportive materials (technical reports, memos, presentations, and support development of engagement materials, etc.)
- Participate in procurement of engineering consultants, surveyors, etc.
- Manage flood hazard mapping studies
- Guide and mentor other team members in specialized software and modelling approaches
- Conduct field investigation of critical hydrologic and hydraulic elements
- Assist with the development of procedures, guidelines, strategies, and system supports, to guide implementation and effective delivery of Conservation Halton’s Flood Hazard Mapping Program
- Provide expert water resources engineering advice and opinions on behalf of Conservation Halton at the Ontario Lands Tribunal, Section 28 hearings, and Ontario Court of Justice
Your Qualifications
- Designated as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), licensed in the Province of Ontario
- University degree in Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Minimum of 5 years experience working in Water Resources Engineering
- Extensive knowledge and experience developing, calibrating, and validating watershed-scale hydrologic and hydraulic models (including demonstrated proficiency with 1D and 2D HEC-RAS models)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, supporting an ability to effectively communicate technical information to a variety of audiences
- Detailed knowledge of principles, policies, guidelines, and procedures (including Provincial Natural Hazards Technical Guidelines and other industry documents), related to modelling, mapping, and hazard management

Your Opportunity
Reporting to the Program Manager, Flood Hazard Mapping, the Water Resources Engineering Technologist is responsible for assisting the Flood Hazard Mapping team with the development and review of flood hazard mapping that supports administration of regulations under Section 28 of the Conservation Authorities Act. This includes both in-house development of hydrologic and hydraulic models, mapping, and reporting and technical review of similar work completed by consultants. The Water Resources Technologist also supports the Program Manager with development of the Flood Hazard Mapping Program, to efficiently and effectively deliver flood hazard mapping studies, while working directly with internal teams, consultants, municipal staff and the public. The Water Resources Engineering Technologist will:
- Support development of watershed-scale hydrologic and hydraulic models (1D and 2D)
- Assist in the review of consultant led flood hazard mapping studies
- Engage in and facilitate collaborative solutions-oriented discussions with key project stakeholders
- Communicate study findings through development of supportive materials (technical reports, memos, presentations, and support development of engagement materials, etc.)
- Participate in procurement of engineering consultants, surveyors, etc.
- Support the Project Coordinator with the management of flood hazard mapping studies
- Conduct field investigation of critical hydrologic and hydraulic elements
- Assist with the development of procedures, guidelines, strategies, and system supports, to guide implementation and effective delivery of Conservation Halton’s Flood Hazard Mapping Program
Your Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or degree from a recognized university or college in Water Resources Engineering or other related discipline
- Be designated a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.), Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Engineering Intern (EIT), Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.), or Geoscientist-in-training (GIT) licensed in the Province of Ontario, or eligible for one of these designations
- 3 years relevant experience
- Knowledge and experience developing hydrologic and hydraulic models (proficiency and knowledge of both 1D and 2D HEC-RAS models is preferred)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, supporting an ability to effectively communicate technical information to a variety of audiences
- Knowledge of principles, policies, guidelines, and procedures (including Provincial Natural Hazards Technical Guidelines and other industry documents), related to modelling, mapping, and hazard management
- Experience with project coordination
- Knowledge of the Conservation Authorities Act and Planning Act
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making capabilities
- Experience developing, fostering, and sustaining effective and positive relationships, both internal and external to the organization
- Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment while maintaining project schedules
- Ability to work with computer software and administrative systems in a Windows environment (e.g., file maintenance; word processing; spreadsheet applications, presentation and GIS software; information input and retrieval, etc.)

Your Opportunity
In this role you will build the leadership and communication skills required for future opportunities as a WOW Camp Counsellor.
- Along with your assigned counsellor, lead groups of campers while exploring CH Parks, trails, and activities, creating fun and adventure in a safe and supportive environment.
- Support the WOW camp team with delivering memorable camp experiences to kids 4 through 15 years old. Provide campers with an unforgettable experience, fostering friendships, and creating lifelong memories.
- Assist the WOW camp team with programming at each activity (boating, swimming, challenge course, etc.). Ensure that campers are active, engaged, having fun, and learning something new!
- Assist WOW Camp Counsellors with providing supervision to camp participants and maintaining best practices for health/safety of campers and other staff members
- Work in accordance with the Conservation Halton’s Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals.

Your Qualifications
- Must be 14 years of age or older by June 1, 2025
- Availability:
- Monday – Friday with shifts approximately between 8:00am – 4:30pm (times may vary)
- Minimum 3 weeks during the summer camp season (July-August) *unless an alternative duration has been agreed upon with WOW Camp Leads/Supervisors
- Enjoy working with children and have strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good time management skills.
- Completion of a Ways of the Woods (WOW) CIT Camp, or a similar Counselor Training program is considered an asset
- Ability to volunteer outside in a variety of weather conditions, on varied terrain.
- Able to lift up to 40 pounds, stand, and walk for long periods of time
- Standard First Aid and CPR certification (or similar) is considered an asset
- Successful candidates are required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSS), to verify the absence of a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted (if over 18 years old). *Cost covered by Conservation Halton up to $30.00.
- CH parks are not accessible by public transit; candidates should ensure they have reliable transportation.

Your Opportunity
In this position you will work closely with the Flood Hazard Mapping team to support modelling and mapping updates that define the extent of regulatory flood hazards and play a critical role in protecting people and property.
Reporting to the Water Resources Analyst, the GIS Technician, Flood Hazard Mapping, will:
- Identify, collate, and/or generate data to support modelling of the flood hazard, including analyzing GIS datasets, generating new GIS layers, and supporting hydraulic model set-up;
- Prepare cartographic products, geospatial datasets, and databases to support flood hazard mapping initiatives;
- Review engineering drawings and reports to collect and organize available data related to significant hydraulic and hydrologic structures;
- Support planning and execution of the field survey program involving the inspection and survey of culverts bridges, on-line ponds, etc.);
- Document field data within a geodatabase, technical memos, reports and cartographic products; and
- Identify and recommend process improvements related to data collection and management.
Your Qualifications
- Graduate from a recognized college or university degree program or post-graduate diploma in Geographical Information Systems, Water Resources Engineering, or related program
- Knowledge and experience working with:
- GIS and the ArcGIS environment, data management systems, positioning technologies and equipment including working knowledge of standards for data collection, integration, conversion, manipulation, storage, and maintenance and GIS editing rules (e.g. polygon and edge rule topology)
- aerial photography interpretation
- cartographic design principles
- specialized software packages (e.g., ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, Spatial and 3D Analyst, Survey123, ArcGIS Field Maps, Access, and SQL Server)
- Ability to freely traverse the natural environment carrying equipment (approx. 15 lbs) is required
- Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic modelling principles and software is an asset
- Knowledge of applications and programming principles and languages is an asset
