Your Opportunity 

 The primary responsibilities of this position include: 

  • Connect people with First Nations heritage and local ecology by creating warm and welcoming experiences for park guests of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds 
  • Deliver informative and entertaining educational programs for organized groups and the public both in person and in a virtual environment 
  • Assist with the development and implementation of innovative new programs to meet the changing needs of the community 
  • Assist with updating and creating new interpretative props, gardens, displays, and signage 
  • Maintain program equipment & supplies, existing and seasonal interpretative displays, signage, and brochures 
  • Perform related duties in other Conservation Halton parks or at community-based venues, as required  
  • Perform light cleaning duties 
  • Work in accordance with the Conservation Halton’s Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals.

Your Qualifications 

  • Cultural/lived experience as an Indigenous person 
  • Understanding of Indigenous culture(s), particularly Wendat or Haudenosaunee cultures, and Traditional Ecological Knowledge or local ecology 
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills  
  • Experience in resource interpretation, teaching, or outdoor education 
  • Proven commitment to providing superior customer service 
  • French or Indigenous second language an asset 
  • Knowledge of archaeology an asset   
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds, stand, and walk for long periods of time

Your Opportunity

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Care for, feed, handle, train, and maintain various birds of prey, their enclosures, and related equipment
  • Deliver informative and engaging educational programs for organized groups and the public
  • Assist with day-to-day operations and customer service including providing general information to visitors and promotion of park initiatives
  • Work in accordance with the Conservation Halton’s Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals.

Your Qualifications

  • Previous experience in the care and handling of birds of prey is an asset
  • Experience in nature interpretation, teaching, or outdoor education
  • Knowledge of natural history and wildlife

  • Able to adapt to the daily challenges associated with a busy outdoor education centre

  • Barn chores & animal care, including but not limited to preparing and delivering diets, cleaning horse stalls, and other animal enclosures

Your Opportunity

In this role you will build the leadership and communication skills required for future opportunities as a WOW Camp Counsellor.

  • Along with your assigned counsellor, lead groups of campers while exploring CH Parks, trails, and activities, creating fun and adventure in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Support the WOW camp team with delivering memorable camp experiences to kids 4 through 15 years old. Provide campers with an unforgettable experience, fostering friendships, and creating lifelong memories.
  • Assist the WOW camp team with programming at each activity (boating, swimming, challenge course, etc.). Ensure that campers are active, engaged, having fun, and learning something new!
  • Assist WOW Camp Counsellors with providing supervision to camp participants and maintaining best practices for health/safety of campers and other staff members
  • Work in accordance with the Conservation Halton’s Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals.
  • Other duties as assigned

Your Qualifications

  • Must be 14 years of age or older by June 1, 2025
  • Availability:
    • Monday – Friday with shifts approximately between 8:00am – 4:30pm (times may vary)
    • Minimum 3 weeks during the summer camp season (July-August) *unless an alternative duration has been agreed upon with WOW Camp Leads/Supervisors 
  • Enjoy working with children and have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good time management skills.
  • Completion of a Ways of the Woods (WOW) CIT Camp, or a similar Counselor Training program is considered an asset
  • Ability to volunteer outside in a variety of weather conditions, on varied terrain.
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds, stand, and walk for long periods of time
  • Standard First Aid and CPR certification (or similar) is considered an asset
  • Successful candidates are required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSS), to verify the absence of a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted (if over 18 years old). *Cost covered by Conservation Halton up to $30.00.

  • Provide safe and enjoyable experiences at Kelso’s Challenge Course, which includes an Archery Range, Aerial Ropes Course, and Climbing Tower.
  • Deliver program content to guests using the Challenge Course; including but not limited to Summer Camps, Day Use Visitors, Corporate and School Groups, Special Events Groups, Birthday parties etc.
  • Ensure safe operation of the course by conducting daily and weekly maintenance, routine inspections as required, cleaning equipment and participant gear.
  • Work in accordance with the Conservation Halton’s Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals.

Your Qualifications

  • Strong creativity, leadership, and collaboration skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer service mindset and the ability to enforce policies and procedures in a professional manner
  • Certification and/or training as a Challenge Course Facilitator is a strong asset
  • Previous experience working with Ropes or Challenge Courses is an asset
  • Previous experience with providing education/supervision to children is an asset
  • Enrollment in or completion of a College or University program relating to recreation, teaching, sport, or similar program is an asset
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes day, afternoon/evening shifts, weekends and holidays
