- Support delivery of the dryland training program
- Ownership of the athlete development, providing mid-season and end of season evaluations
- Support on-snow training and race related tasks (i.e., lane preparation, course setting and maintenance, tear-down and lane clean-up), video analysis and timing system set-up/clean-up
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and operational throughout the season
- Ensure athletes abide by the AOA & MHRC Codes of Conduct
- Responsible for record keeping and reporting on attendance, ability levels, and incidents as required
- Attend all required staff training sessions both on and off hill
- Adhere to all Safe Sport and Head Start policies/protocols, modelling positive behaviours to ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment is maintained for all MHRC athletes at all times

The primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Produce quality snow using snowmaking equipment
- Adjusting, relocating, turning, or moving of snow guns, sometimes by hand, to maintain snowmaking efficiency
- Conduct regular maintenance checks on equipment, including water pipes, fluid levels and volume, temperature controls, energy consumption, and diesel fuel systems

- Previous related experience or experience operating equipment is an asset
- Ability to do basic system troubleshooting, awareness of the dangers involved with high-pressure vessels, and knowledge of restarting a system after an emergency shutdown

Reporting to the Coordinator, Water and Biodiversity Monitoring, this position is responsible for undertaking data collection, ecological inventories, and monitoring in accordance with monitoring strategies for the watershed and CH lands.
- Lead and assist in field data collection and undertake terrestrial and aquatic surveys using approved protocols
- Perform daily field and in office quality assurance and quality control (QAQC) of collected data and assist in data management of long-term monitoring data
- Identify, assess and pilot new tools and technologies for collecting field data
- Inform the Monitoring Lead of equipment needs and maintenance of field equipment
- Safeguard sensitive species at risk information
- Supervise, train and mentor seasonal staff
- Support the Coordinator to undertake data management, analysis and reporting (e.g., graphs, calculations, and statistical analysis)
- Prepare draft reports, draft accessible science communication, and prepare literature reviews
- Represent Conservation Halton on external committees
- Maintain relationships with sample laboratories, landowners, and external partners where directed by the Coordinator

- Degree or diploma from a post-secondary institution in biology, ecology, natural resources management or similar discipline with a minimum of 3 years’ experience
- Broad experience performing ecological monitoring using standardized protocols (e.g., Ontario Stream Assessment Protocol, Backpack Electrofishing, Ontario Benthic Biomonitoring Network, Provincial Water Quality Monitoring Network sampling, Vegetation Quadrants, Timed Botanical Inventories, Forest Health Protocols, Forest Bird Monitoring Protocol, Marsh Monitoring Protocol, Breeding Birds, Species at Risk, etc.)
- Experience in or working knowledge of air photo interpretation, ArcGIS, and handled GPS\

- Understanding of hydrological and ecological principles

Your Qualifications

Your Opportunity
Reporting to the Lift Mechanic Lead, the Lift Mechanic is responsible for maintenance and repairs of lifts, as well as various equipment and machinery.
- Responsible and accountable for all repairs and maintenance on aerial and surface lift installations, including fixed grip chairlifts, and conveyor lifts
- Document all inspections, maintenance tasks, and repairs using our in-house suite of apps to ensure good record keeping
- Ensure all lifts are maintained to code, TSSA standards and manufacturer’s recommendations
- Conduct opening and closing inspections of the lifts during any days of operation
- Troubleshoot issues with lifts and other equipment, determining when a lift needs to be suspended or shut down, while ensuring minimal downtime where possible
- Responsible and accountable for all repairs and maintenance on our fleet of snow groomers including regular maintenance at manufacturer prescribed intervals, and repairs where needed
- Provide recommendations for ongoing maintenance of lifts and equipment
- Assist in emergency situations including but not limited to chairlift evacuations via electrical bypass, evacuation drive, or manual rope evacuation.
- Work in accordance with Conservation Halton’s Safety Policy and Procedures and in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations
- Assist with other area maintenance activities such as: snowmaking, grooming, winter maintenance and general repairs and cleanups
- Act as Day Manager during the winter season at Glen Eden, assisting customers and staff with inquiries
Your Qualifications
- SLM-B Certificate or SLM-T license with a reasonable amount of completion of the skills passport may be considered depending on other skill sets
- Minimum 4 years experience in lift operations, grooming, or snowmaking
- Knowledge of the Z98 code, Code Adoption Document, as well as Provincial and TSSA Regulations
- Technical aptitude including knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, as well as basic vehicle repairs.
