Celebrate the wonders of winter at Snowflakes and Snowsnakes at Crawford Lake Conservation Area. Join staff on Family Day Weekend, February 14 to 16, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for three special days of fun winter activities.
Get out and enjoy winter at Snowflakes and Snowsnakes. You can hike, snowshoe or ski the snow-covered trails, gather around a toasty fire to roast marshmallows, and hot dogs, make a bird feeder, go on a winter discovery hunt to win prizes, and tour the longhouses in Crawford Lake’s 15th century reconstructed Iroquoian Village and heritage site.
Children will enjoy viewing the Race of the Snowsnake video, and will have the opportunity to try their hand at this traditional First Nations sport. Visitors will also be able to discover snowshoeing up in the village with instruction from a staff member on their history and use. Or, if you prefer try snowshoeing at your own pace by renting a pair from the Visitor’s Centre.
Join one of our park staff to discover the bounty of the forest in winter. Take a guided hike to learn about survival in the winter, make a shelter and learn traditional fire making methods. Check out the gift shop and displays in the Visitor’s Centre
Although some activities are snow dependent, our winter celebration will take place regardless of the weather, so come join in the fun! Regular park admission applies for this event, and the festivities are free for children ages four years and under. Halton Parks Members only need to show their pass for admission.
