Explore with Dad at Mountsberg on Father’s Day June 19-16

Hey kids, why not bring your dad out to Mountsberg Conservation Area and explore on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 19. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to noon.Explore with Dad tickets are $16 for adults, $11 for children (age 5 to 14 years), $11 for seniors (ages 65 years and over), FREE for preschool (ages 4 years and under).


Yoga in the Park at Rattlesnake Point May 25 to Aug 31-16

Conservation Halton and Moksha Yoga Milton have teamed up to offer Yoga in the Park every Wednesday night from 7 to 8 p.m. at Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area. The sessions started on Wednesday, May 25 and will continue until Wednesday, August 31, 2016.

On Saturday, May 28, we invite you to grab your comfy pajamas and join us at Crawford Lake Conservation Area for the first Pajama Night of the Season. The event takes place from 7 to 9 p.m.


Spring is the best time to remove Giant Hogweed, May 10-16

Spring is when many homeowners are outside doing work in their gardens, and part of that work is pulling weeds or invasive species which may be present. Spring is when many homeowners are outside doing work in their gardens, and part of that work is pulling weeds or invasive species which may be present. It is a great time to do this work in your garden before these plants get fully established, and is why in many cases now is the best time to remove them! One invasive species which is best to be removed now, if you have it, is Giant Hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum).


Day for the dogs at Rattlesnake Point on Sunday, May 15-16

Fetch! Come! Sit! Stay! Join us on Sunday May 15 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area for the first annual Pooches in the Park event. This ‘on leash’ event features an afternoon of tail-wagging fun, filled with prizes, training tips, vendors and more!

Free Milton Homeowners Gardening Workshops coming up in May 2016

Milton homeowners can get ready for gardening season with our free workshops on May 4, 11 and 18. Conservation Halton is once again offering a series of evening workshops to help homeowners create a healthy yard and understand the impact of their yards and neighbourhoods on local water quality.


Prescribed Burn at Glenorchy CA on Sunday, April 24

Ecological restoration staff at Conservation Halton has been busy planning throughout the winter, for a prescribed burn at Glenorchy Conservation Area. After several weeks of monitoring the weather, conditions are favourable for the prescribed burn to take place this Sunday, April 24, 2016. The burn is planned to commence around 1 p.m. and will be completed in two to three hours.


Hear the sounds of spring at Mountsberg’s Frogwatchers’ Hikes April 22 & 23

Spring fever is in the air right now as male frogs are getting ready to sing in full chorus to attract mates. This annual nature phenomenon can be witnessed in the forests and wetlands of Mountsberg Conservation Area where you can join in our interesting and informative Frogwatcher’s Hikes. This year the hikes take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23.


Watershed Conditions Statement - Flood Outlook April 5, 2016

Conservation Halton has issued a Watershed Conditions Statement - Flood Outlook as of 4 p.m. on April 5, 2016. Local forecasts are calling for 15 mm of precipitation, which in conjunction with snowmelt and saturated ground conditions will result in higher than normal water levels and flows in local streams. Widespread flooding is not currently anticipated however flooding of low lying areas and natural floodplains may be expected.
