Halton Parks 150

Hike it. Bike it. Run it. Climb it.

For Canada 150, we’re challenging you, your friends, and your family to hike, bike, climb, and run in Halton Parks. Hike, bike, run or climb the Halton Parks Trails challenge from June 15th, 2017 to October 15th, 2017, and you’ll win an extended month to your Halton Parks Membership and you’re entered to win one of the grand prizes.

Breathe in fresh air, and work-out here whether it’s hiking the trails on the Escarpment Trail in the forest surrounding Crawford Lake; mountain biking through the woods at Hilton Falls, rock-climbing the cliff face of Rattlesnake Point or trail running through Kelso to add up those kilometres or routes.

How can I track my kilometres?

There are a few options to track your kilometres. You can use an app or a fitness tracker to calculate your kilometres. Some examples include MapMyRun, MapMyHike, MapMyRide, Strava, or using the GPS on your fitness tracker or phone. Another option is that you can use a pedometer that converts steps into kilometres. Finally, you can use our trail maps! We have calculated the trail distance for you.

Those are a lot of kilometres! I don’t think I can complete them.

That’s why it’s a challenge! Over the time of seventeen weeks, you can complete a few kilometres every week. If you’re hiking, that’s a little under nine kilometres per week, or 1.2 kilometres a day. Turn off the television and go for a hike, bike, or rock climb after work and on the weekend: the kilometres will add up in no time.

Can I convert kilometres between challenges?

We recommend sticking to one of the activities during this challenge. You can complete multiple challenges ie. you can do both a biking and a hiking challenge, respectively, but you cannot combine the activities onto one.
