Conservation Halton is seeking a motivated individual who is interested in working with the Glen Eden and Milton Heights Race Club competitive snow sports programs.

Glen Eden Ski & Snowboard Centre is a very busy recreational centre with seasonal visitations of approx. 360,000 patrons. In conjunction with the Milton Heights Race Club, we are seeking a professional and organized individual to take on a leadership role with our race programs.
This will be a 1 season Interim role allowing both the successful candidate and our organization to develop the role as we work towards a longer term placement.

Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Programs & Services you will:

  • Function as a senior member of the Glen Eden Snow School managing all Coaching / Racing efforts for MHRC, as well as working with other snow school programs where necessary
  • Develop an understanding of and contribute to the development of the programs that M.H.R.C and Snow School offer
  • Responsible and accountable for developing and managing staffing budgets in relation to all racing programs
  • Participate in on-hill supervision, training, mentoring and coaching
  • Coordinate the recruiting, and training process of coaching staff in accordance with employee policy, labour, and human rights legislation
  • Develop and implement appropriate risk management policies for racing programs in collaboration with appropriate staff
  • Identify racing, training and safety equipment required and to ensure coaching staff are given the guidance and tools necessary to perform their jobs
  • Ensure thorough tracking of athlete progress reports, coaching certification, development and technical updates with the assistance of the Administrative Supervisor within the Snow School
  • Ensure high quality of coaching through regular training, feedback and performance reviews for all coaches, seeking input from Milton Heights Racing Club Executive and Race Committee members
  • Assist Race Administrator with their duties (i.e. scheduling, payroll and reporting) pre, during and post season
  • Work closely with the Snow School and liaise with other departmental staff and outside organizations to ensure communication, information sharing and excellence in customer service can occur between all stakeholders
  • Create a positive work environment for coaches, apprentices and volunteers
  • Perform duties and ensure assigned employees & volunteers (if applicable) work in accordance with Conservation Halton’s Safety policy and procedures and with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations
  • Manage hill space effectively and coordinate scheduling of special events relative to hill space and Conservation Halton events. E.g. Race Under the Stars, Special Olympics etc
  • Act as an ambassador of the club at AOA races and events; promote AOA and interclub training, social and racing activities
  • Support home races by coordinating, setting up and acting as Chief of Race as well as other related race duties
  • Perform other duties as required to contribute to the team effort and achieve the objectives of the department and Conservation Halton.

Need to Have

  • Minimum CSCF Level II and CSIA Level II; along with a knowledge of racing club operational and risk management issues required
  • At least five years of coaching experience within a club environment along with some supervisory experience
  • Minimum Level II Official with AOA
  • Working knowledge of Alpine Ontario and FIS organizations and requirements
  • CSIA Snow Park Trained or Certified (or willing to acquire)
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, email, blogs, etc
