Park Fees

Conservation Halton has entry and program fees to help fund the operation and maintenance of its parks. The fees, which vary from park to park, help us keep the parks natural as well as enhance our facilities and programs for the enjoyment of visitors. Park fees are reviewed annually.

Conservation Halton and HST

The new provincial Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) comes into effect on July 1, 2010. The HST is a combination of the current PST and GST.

The 13 per cent HST will be applied to most goods and services that previously carried the GST. Conservation Halton, like all Ontario organizations providing taxable services, must comply with the new legislation and apply the HST, to certain programs and services offered by Conservation Halton.

Examples of HST services/programs:

  • Annual Passes
  • Interpretive programs
  • Camping
  • Park admissions
  • Giftshop sales and program equipment rentals
  • Concession sales (prepared meals $4.00 and under are subject to GST only)
  • Planning applications

Examples of HST exempt services/programs:

  • Recreation programs for children under 14 years of age (Ways of the Woods Day Camp and Glen Eden Kinder Ski)
  • Building related permits
  • Maple syrup sales
  • The transition rules are as follows:

The province has included transition rules to help move from the current tax system into the new HST.

May 1 to June 30, 2010

If services/programs occur after July 1, 2010, the 13 per cent HST will be charged on the service provided after June 30, 2010.

Exception: If 90 per cent of the services/programs are delivered prior to July 1, 2010, then 5 per cent GST will apply.

After July 1, 2010

HST at 13 per cent will added to all applicable services/programs.

More information on the HST is available on the following websites:
